Only opens in Powerpoint

Dissapointing. The program does a great job of creating a powerpoint document but I want a text or word doc and to get Microsoft office to change powerpoint to word is impossible.
Yes..,. I tried to convert to hand out sheets. Hand out sheets do not become proper text or word doc.
